Tieto paves way for BancABC's payment card operations
BancABC, an African banking group, has selected Tieto's card issuing solution for their payment card operations. The group is one of the leading financial institutions in the Southern African region and is in the process of expanding its services into retail banking. BancABC operates in Botswana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
 
Worlds Leading Business Analysis Institute (IIBA®) Comes to Latvia
International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) Latvian Chapter Kick-off meeting will take place at the end of the April on April 29th at 6:00 PM in Riga, Kornvalda blv. 3/5. Event is organized with the support of the Latvian IT Cluster.
 
Tieto Cards obtains ISO 9001:2008 certification
Tieto has achieved the ISO 9001:2008 quality standard for its Cards business in Latvia, demonstrating continuous commitment to high standards of quality in its operations. The audit covered the processes for developing solutions for payment card issuing, acquiring and processing, as well as payment card system integration, consultancy and training.

Tieto’s payment card solution on IBM platform achieves impressive transaction volumes Tieto has successfully completed the performance and feasibility testing of its payment card solution on the IBM Power platform. The tests were conducted to verify the capability of the solution in processing large transaction volumes on the IBM System p platform. These tests are an answer to the interest financial players with high transaction volumes has shown in Tieto’s card solutions
 
Latvian IT Cluster participates in GITI 2009
Latvian IT Cluster was represented in second regional Georgia IT Innovation Conference that was held in Tbilisi on October 29-30, 2009. The event was organized by the Georgia ICT Business Council and the State Commission of e-Governance Development of Georgia, with the support of USAID Georgia and the RCI Project.GITI conference 2009.
 
Latvian IT Cluster company DEAC opened the largest data centre in the Baltic States.
On September 24th in Riga, Maskavas Street 459 the largest Latvian data centre operator – DEAC, opened a new data centre “Riga”, which is the largest and most modern data centre in the Baltic States, as well as the largest investment project of DEAC up to now. It took 2 years to establish the new data centre and 2 988 000 EUR in total were invested in it, including 1 422 870 EUR  invested in the building of the data centre, and 1 565 150 EUR invested in infrastructure and equipment.
 
Memorandum of Understanding with Belarus High Technology Park is signed
On October 16, 2008 in Minsk the Latvian IT Cluster (IT Cluster) has sign the MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING AND CO-OPERATION with the Administration of the High Technologies Park of Belarus (HTP).

Mr. Valery Tsepkalo, Director of the HTP Administration and Mr. Martins Berzins, delegated by the Administration of the Latvian IT Cluster (Sales Director of the Cluster member company 'ClusterPoint') has negotiated and signed the Memorandum of Understanding and Co-operation (MoU)

 
NEP-AL IT - Matcmaking Event Kathmandu 2009
Latvian IT Cluster companies are going to Nepal in Januray, 2009 to participate at the Matchmaking event in Kathmandu to meet and to present Latvia IT sector for 160 IT companies from EU, Nepal, Pakistan. Partners of the project are Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chamber of Commerce of Slovenia, the Bistrita Nasaud Chamber of Commerce (Romania), Nepalese Chamber of Commerce, Karachi Chamber of Commerce (Pakistan) and co-financed by EU and Asia Invest. The main idea of this project is to contribute to the development of EU-Pakistan-Nepal trade relations and promote the internalization of European and Asian SMEs of IT sector by creating direct and long lasting business cooperation.
